These slow-paced walks, allow us to see the country and people. Some of the mountain trails are steep.
Hiking and Cultural Tour
May 7, Saturday, Leave USA. Fly into Casablanca.
Sunday, May 8. Day 1, I will meet you at the airport in Casablanca. Drive to Fez.
Day 2, Explore Fez on foot.
Day 3, Tour the Roman ruins in Volubilis, and Meknes.
Day 4, Drive to Er Rachidea, stopping to see Barbaray Apes in the forest.
Day 5, Drive to the Saharan dunes. An evening walk.
Day 6, Ride camels and explore the desert area.
Day 7, Drive to the Todra Gorge to visit my Berber family.
Day 8, Day in the gorge, hike in the mountains.
Day 9, Drive to Marrakech, stopping to visit a kasbah.
Day 10, Visit the Bahia Palace, shop the Marrakesh souks.
Day 11, 12, Drive to the High Atlas mountains for day hikes from the town of Imlil. Optional ascent to highest mountain in North Africa, Mt. Toubkal at 13,688 feet and involves camping at a base camp.
Day 13, Marrakech.
Day 14, Saturday May 21. Fly home from Marrakech.
